Making plinth from Toothpick box

I had this idea after I saw a toothpick box in 7-11 when I was in Thailand around a year ago. At that time, I was looking for something I can applied to be a plinth for my projects because it was hard to find plinths in Thailand (and too expensive to order from another country). Then I've found these toothpick boxes in 7-11. It has two types of box and the cost per one box just only 0.50 US Dollar, and the size was perfect for the minis. So, I bought several of both types and then were applied it as a plinth for my projects such as Justicar Jedidiah, Judgement and Dark Angels Company Master.

The toothpick box on the right was used only the cap and applied it as a lower plinth for Justicar Jedidiah and Judgement. The plinth on the left was applied from another toothpick box and was also the first plinth for Orc Flagger.

In order to apply it, I cut the threaded portion of the box off with hand saw to make it easier to decorate the groundwork on top of the box. In this piece, I cut it as oblique angle or you can cut it only the threaded portion and cover the top of the box with plastic sheet (after filled inside with plaster), to make a plinth with flat top.

I filled inside the box with plaster (or modelling clay) in order to make it gain weight and be able to handle the weight of the groundwork and minis on top, and will not tilt or fall.

After finished the groundwork, I used Tamiya putty for filling any scratches or marks on the box and sanded with fine sandpaper (number 800-1200) then cleaning the box surface with water. When its dried, I used Citadel Chaos Black and sprayed over the whole piece in order to be a base coat for the groundwork and cover the clear plastic of the box at the same time, then you will not recognize it was made from a toothpick box :)
I don't know does it has this kind of toothpick box in 7-11 in another country, but I hope you would get the idea and lead you to create your own plinth with another materials.
Happy Modelling to all of you :)
